Dusty Limits - also known as Dorian Black - is a singer, comedian and compere and one of the leading performers on the New Cabaret scene. With his three-octave vocal range he has surprised and delighted audiences from London to Dublin, New York to Berlin. He sings everything from Cole Porter to Portishead, often with the words changed, as well as his own original songs, usually with darkly comic themes. He is a firm believer in the transformative power of art. He is not so sure about the existence of God. He is always open to surprise.
Dusty has appeared on the bill with many of the leading performers in the worlds of contemporary cabaret and burlesque, all of whom he still, miraculously, counts as his friends, including: Meow Meow, Camille O*Sullivan, Amanda Palmer, Sarah-Louise Young, Miss Behave, Lucifire, Jonny Woo, Miss Polly Rae, Empress Stah, Sxip Shirey, Taylor Mac, Holly Penfield and many more.
He has appeared at the Ediinburgh Fringe every year since 2003, either in one-man shows or hosting the infamous Bongo Club Cabaret. From 2007 to 2009 he curated and hosted a monthly showcase of cabaret talent called KUNST, which featured such rising stars as Bourgeois and Maurice, Frisky and Mannish and Dickie Beau. He has performed on many of the most famous cabaret stages in the world, from Don*t Tell Mama and Joe*s Pub in New York to the Cafe de Paris and Roundhouse in London, and the Famous Spiegeltent in Edinburgh.
As well as his work as a singer and compere, he works as an actor, director, writer, vocal coach and lecturer on the subject of Kleinkunst and cabaret. He most recently appeared on BBC Radio 2 as an interviewee for *Come to the Cabaret* (hosted by Paul O*Grady) speaking on the subject of Berlin cabaret and the role of the MC.
